Continuing our support for Azure Service Bus in Cloud Portam (here and here), I am pleased to announce that Cloud Portam now allows you to manage your Azure Service Bus Event Hubs and Relays. This blog post talks about the supported features.

Please note that Event Hubs and Relays are only supported for “Standard” tier of Azure Service Bus.

Features Supported

When it comes to managing Azure Service Bus Event Hubs and Relays, following features are supported in Cloud Portam.

Event Hubs

List Event Hubs

Using Cloud Portam, you can list event hubs in your Service Bus account.

New Event Hub

You can create new event hubs in your Service Bus account. A Service Bus event hub has many attributes and to the best of our knowledge, Cloud Portam allows you to set those attributes. Some of the attributes are only set during event hub creation time (e.g. event hub partition count) and Cloud Portam tells you that.

View Event Hub Information

This is a read-only popup window which gives you information about the event hub.

Edit Event Hub Properties

You can edit properties of an event hub using this functionality. Again, care has been taken so that only the attributes that can be modified are enabled and can be changed.

Delete Event Hubs

Using Cloud Portam you can delete one or more event hubs. Please note that if you open your account in read-only/read-write mode or your team administrator has granted you read-only or read-write permission on the account, you won’t be able to delete event hubs using Cloud Portam.

Enable/Disable Event Hub

Using Cloud Portam you can enable/disable event hubs. Once an event hub is disabled, it will no longer be able to process events. Please note that if you open your account in read-only mode or your team administrator has granted you read-only permission on the account, you won’t be able to enable/disable event hubs using Cloud Portam.

Please note that if you open your account in read-only/read-write mode or your team administrator has granted you read-only or read-write permission on the account, you won’t be able to delete event hubs using Cloud Portam. Also note that when an event hub is created, Service Bus automatically creates a default consumer group (by the name $Default). This consumer group can’t be deleted. Any attempt to delete this consumer group will result in an error from the Service Bus.

Relays

List Relays

Using Cloud Portam, you can list relays in your Service Bus account.

You can create new relays in your Service Bus account. A Service Bus relay has many attributes and to the best of our knowledge, Cloud Portam allows you to set those attributes. Some of the attributes are only set during relay creation time (e.g. relay type) and Cloud Portam tells you that.
