In this blog post we will see how you can manage permissions on cloud resources.

What are Permissions?

One of the USPs of the Team Edition of Cloud Portam is that you (as an administrator) can grant permissions to your team members on the cloud resources that you manage through Cloud Portam. Essentially you can grant four kinds of permissions:

  • None: It simply means that user does not have access to the cloud resource. When the user logs in into Cloud Portam, they will not see this cloud resource. Even if they have the URL of the cloud resource and try to access it, they will be greeted with “Not Authorized” error.
  • Read Only: It means that user only has read-only access to the cloud resource. They can view all data in that cloud resource but will not be able to update/delete data. They will not be able to create new data in that cloud resource as well.
  • Read Write: It means that the user has read-write access to the cloud resource. They can view all data in that cloud resource and will be able to update existing data. They will also be able to create new data in that cloud resource. However they will not be able to delete data from that cloud resource.
  • Full: It means that the user has complete access to the cloud resource. They can view all data in that cloud resource and will be able to create/update and delete data in that cloud resource.

A Few Things Regarding Setting Permissions

A few things regarding setting permissions:

  • Only a user in “administrator” or “co-administrator” role can set the permissions on the cloud resource.
  • Changes will become effective when the user logs in into the Cloud Portam next time.
