In this blog post we will see how you can manage cloud resources that you want to explore through Cloud Portam.

What is a Cloud Resource?

In context of Cloud Portam, a cloud resource is an Azure resource that you want to manage through Cloud Portam. Currently Cloud Portam supports Azure Storage, Search Service and DocumentDB account so a cloud resource would mean an Azure Storage account or an Azure Search Service account or an Azure DocumentDB account.

Things You Can Do?

As far as managing cloud resources are concerned, there are a few things you can do:

  • Add: You could add a cloud resource that you want to manage through Cloud Portam into the application.
  • Edit/Update: You could edit or update properties of a cloud resource that you are managing through Cloud Portam. For example, you could update the account key of an Azure Storage account that you are managing through Cloud Portam.
  • Remove: You could remove a cloud resource from Cloud Portam. Please remember that when you remove a cloud resource from Cloud Portam, it is only removed from the application. It is not deleted from your Azure subscription.
  • Permissions: You could change permissions for one or more users on a cloud resource. For more details about the permission, please see this blog post: http://cloudportam.wpengine.com/cloud-portam-team-edition-manage-cloud-resource-permissions.
  • Groups: Groups provide a way to logically categorize your cloud resources. You can create/rename/delete groups and change groups for a cloud resource. For more details about the groups, please see this blog post: http://cloudportam.wpengine.com/cloud-portam-team-edition-manage-groups.

Please see these blog posts for detailed description on adding/editing/removing functionality for each cloud resource type:
