Over this weekend we released a new version of Cloud Portam. This blob post talks about the enhancements done in this release.
Search Service Latest API Support
This release is mainly focused on enhancing Search Service support in Cloud Portam. In this release, we have upgraded the Cloud Portam to make use of latest version of Search Service REST API: 2015-02-28. There have been many enhancements done at the REST API level and I am pleased to announce that Cloud Portam supports most of those enhancements.
Text Analyzer Support
Recently Search Service included a number of Lucene text analyzers to enable you to perform advanced text searches in about 40 languages. Now you can specify text analyzers on “String” or “String Collection” “Searchable” fields in Cloud Portam when creating or editing indexes.
To learn more about language support in Search Service, please see this link: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn879793.aspx. Please note that there is a more recent version available in preview (2015-02-28-Preview) and there Search Service has added more language support. However Cloud Portam does not support the preview version just yet. We will include support for these additional languages and this preview version is generally available.
“Tag” Type Function Support in Scoring Profile
In the preview version, a scoring function can be one of the following types: Distance, Freshness, Magnitude. In the latest version, Search Service included a new function type called “Tag”. Cloud Portam now supports this function type.
Please note that “Tag” type function can only be defined on “String” or “String Collection” “Filterable” fields. To learn more about scoring profiles, please see this link: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn798928.aspx. The suggestions feature in Azure Search is a type-ahead or auto-complete query capability, providing a list of potential search terms in response to partial string inputs entered into a search box. Using Cloud Portam, you can define suggesters (currently only one) for your indexes.

What’s Next in Search Service
To be honest, this release was long overdue! There are still some features that are there in the released version of Search Service API that did not make in this Cloud Portam. Our goal will be to include them shortly! Other than that, there are some features which are available in the preview version of the API that we think would provide more value add to you as you manage your Search Service account through Cloud Portam. So we will be adding those features.

We humbly request you to try out these updates in Cloud Portam. This is available in both “Personal” and “Team” editions of Cloud Portam.
