Earlier this week, we released a new version of Cloud Portam. This blog post talks about the enhancements done in this release.
Append Blob Support
“Append Blob” is the newest kind of blob introduced in Azure Blob Storage Service. As the name suggests, in this blob the content is always appended to the end of the blob. It is ideally suited for collecting logging data. I’m pleased to announce that Cloud Portam fully supports Append Blobs. To learn more about Append Blob functionality in Cloud Portam, please see this blog post: http://cloudportam.wpengine.com/announcing-support-for-append-blobs-in-cloud-portam/.
Search Service Indexers Support
In the last release, we included support for managing Indexer Data Sources. In this release we are including the support for managing Indexers. A “Search Service Indexer” can be thought of as a service which connects your Search Service Index to a Data Source and populate data in your Index. It can also track changes and soft deletes in data in the data source as well.
When it comes to supporting indexer management functionality in Cloud Portam, following features are supported:
You can list indexers defined in your Search Service account.
You can create a new indexer in your Search Service account. When creating an indexer, Cloud Portam fetches the indexes and data sources list from your Search Service account making it easier for you to create an indexer.
You can also update an indexer by changing some of its properties like data source name, index name etc.
You can delete one or more indexers from your Search Service account.
You can run indexer on demand using Cloud Portam.
You can reset indexer using Cloud Portam.
Using Cloud Portam, you can also check the status of your indexer. You can check the overall status of your indexer as well as the result when the indexer was last executed.
Copy Search Service Index
This is a new feature that we introduced in this release. Essentially this functionality will create a new Index in your Search Service account by copying fields and properties from an existing index in that account. Please note that it won’t copy the data from existing index into new index.
When Storage team released Append Blob functionality, they also released a number of enhancements to File Service. We will be working on supporting those enhancements in Cloud Portam.
Try It Out!
We humbly request you to try out these updates in Cloud Portam. This is available in both “Personal” and “Team” editions of Cloud Portam. Though extreme care has been taken regarding testing the current functionality, it is quite possible that we may have overlooked something.
